The ribbon was cut on the new police station in Provincetown with opening ceremonies this week.

The new station at 2 Jerome Smith Road cost 17 million dollars, funded through town meeting approval.

A move became necessary, as the former station on Shark Painter Road was prone to flooding and had building code violations, as well as not being able to accommodate modern communications infrastructure.

Town Manager Alex Morse says "The outgoing Station on Shank Painter will be used for seasonal officer housing this upcoming summer."

The official opening day for the new police station is April 4th.
