Lawsuit Filed Against Companies Decomissioning Pilgrim Power Plant

A lawsuit against the companies overseeing the decommissioning of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth has been announced.

A consent judgment of 200 thousand dollars was entered on March 1st by Suffolk Superior Court.

This resolves allegations that Holtec Pilgrim LLC and its subsidiary Holtec Decommissioning International improperly handled, disposed and removed asbestos-containing materials, in violation of Department of Environmental Protection regulations.

The judgment also bans Holtec and HDI from using funds from a trust fund designed for decommissioning to pay the settlement cost.
