Winds May Force Issues With Some Steamship Authority Routes

The Steamship Authority says weather conditions may force the cancellation of some ferry services on the Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket routes.

The National Weather Service has posted a High Wind Warning for the Cape and Islands from 7 o'clock this morning through 7 a.m. Thursday.

Southwest winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour are predicted, with gusts up to 60 miles per hour, with the Vineyard receiving up to three-quarters of an inch of rain.

Cancellations could start during the midday hours on the Vineyard route, while all sailings to and from Nantucket could be canceled entirely.

Eversource officials are warning of potential power outages.
