Tree Decision Rooted In Delays In Chatham

The Chatham Conservation Commission is passing off a decision to the Cape Cod Commission over a plan to remove trees to improve safety at the Chatham Airport.

Con-Com members voted unanimously to put the changes on the backs of Cape Cod commissioners, saying the proposal is beyond their scope.

It's part of the airport's vegetation management plan and removing some trees may be required to comply with FAA safety standards.

The issue is far from a final resolution as a long series of public hearings will accompany each step the proposal takes in the long approval process.
