Short Term Rental Fees Will Increase In Eastham

Eastham has approved an increase in the short-term rental registration fee, effective in 2025.

The fee will rise from 75 to 350-dollars. Officials say the projected revenue of more than 192-thousand-dollars will go toward oversight of the nearly one thousand short-term rentals in the community.

Town Manager Jacqui Beebe says the decision was made in light of a tight operating budget.

While some residents have responded in surprise to the move, officials say the increase is fairer for the taxpayers who do not operate such rental properties.

They also point to an average nightly rental rate of 268-dollars per night, which means the fee can be covered by less than any two-night stay.
