Martha's Vineyard Man Gets 8 Years For Bank Robbery

A Martha's Vineyard resident has been sentenced to eight years and four months in federal prison for bank robbery.

Petar Petyoshin of Edgartown pleaded guilty to one count of armed bank robbery, in connection with the holdup of a branch of the Rockland Trust Bank in Falmouth in April of last year.

The 40-year-old Petyoshin was caught on surveillance cameras brandishing a handgun during the heist, in which he made off with about 20-thousand dollars.

Petyoshin will also face five years of supervised release after he leaves prison.
