Gov Pulling Liquor Store Bill Is Not "Last Call"

Governor Maura Healey is dropping a proposal that would have allowed local officials to decide on the number of liquor licenses issued.

Currently state lawmakers set the number of liquor licenses allowed in each city and town.

Healey had planned to include the local option as part of a larger bill of municipal changes she will be submitting soon.

A spokesperson for the governor says she still supports the concept, but the administration needs more time to make sure the language is correct.
