Martha's Vineyard Regional High School Won't Appeal Turf Field Decision

Oak Bluffs officials will no longer fund an appeal for an athletic field's turf, but that has not stopped others from contributing.

On Thursday, the Select Board voted 3-to-2 against further funding of the appeal of a Land Court ruling in favor of Martha's Vineyard Regional High School.

The area of concern is over the Dover Amendment, which provides special consideration to projects with an educational component, and the judge cited.

Meanwhile, the school committee has received four-thousand-dollars in private donations for legal fees.

Half came from Terrence Donahue, a vocal supporter of the turf field, and his wife, Annemarie; the second half was from an anonymous donor.
