Former Nursing Home May Become Homeless Shelter

A former nursing home in South Dennis may become the new center to shelter dozens of families on Cape Cod.

Housing Assistance Corporation is planning to convert the former South Dennis Healthcare facility to take in those staying at Angel House in Hyannis, the Village at Cataumet in Bourne, and Carriage House in North Falmouth.

CEO Alisa Magnotta says the shelters would be changed over to studio and two-bedroom rental apartments.

The repurposed facility is envisioned to open in late spring or early summer of this year.
