Barnstable has awarded a Community Development Block Grant to OpenCape to fund the expansion of high-speed broadband service.
The 297 thousand dollar grant will be used as part of plans to target low to moderate-income properties in downtown Hyannis.
Hubs will also be established at key public points, including the Hyannis Youth and Community Center and the public library.
OpenCape aims to offer reasonable pricing plans of 55 dollars per month for residential service, 80 dollars for businesses.
