Local Communities Consider Substance Abuse Head

The health boards representing Martha's Vineyard communities are considering a pooling of resources to fund a substance abuse disorder coordinator.

The boards of Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, West Tisbury, and Vineyard Haven would fund the position through money from federal settlements from pharmaceutical companies.

This would amount to about 100-thousand-dollars; all six local boards would have to support the measure, and then bring that back to town managers.

The board will hold its next meeting on January 11th.
