Woman Charged In Fatal Crash- But She Wasn't The Driver

A Cape Cod woman who was charged following a crash that killed four fellow students from Maine Maritime Academy has made a court appearance.

While prosecutors say 21-year-old Noelle Tavares of Falmouth was not behind the wheel at the time of the accident, they claim she did play a role in the tragedy.

The vehicle hit a tree and caught fire in Castine, the town where the academy is located, last December.

Tavares has pleaded not guilty to four counts of manslaughter and other charges.

Speed and alcohol were allegedly factors in the crash.
