Falmouth Police: Staffing Is Critically Short

The new police chief in Falmouth is working on hiring additional officers.

The Enterprise reports the Falmouth Police Department is critically short-staffed.

The reasons include retirements, transfers and officer injuries.

As part of the hiring effort, chief Jeffrey Lourie is planning to implement a college recruitment program for local students.

Lourie was hired in June to replace chief Edward Dunne after his retirement.
