Cape Cod Doctors Present Physician Assisted Death Proposal To State

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court heard arguments last week in a case brought on by two Cape Cod doctors who want to legalize physician-assisted suicide.

One of the doctors, Roger Kligler of Falmouth, has stage-4 prostate cancer and is seeking the option to avoid end-of-life suffering.

The lawsuit was filed in 2016 against Attorney General Maura Healey, who is now running for Governor, and Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe.

It's anticipated that the State Supreme Court will reach a decision by the summer.
