A doctor is off the job and security on heightened awareness at Cape Cod Medical Center in Hyannis.
This after the physician, whose name has not been released, had brought a rifle into the medical center on Thursday.
Cape Cod Healthcare Spokesperson Patrick Kane says security worked with Barnstable Police to confiscate the weapon and remove the physician.
Kane says the rifle was unloaded and it appears that there was “no apparent intention” to use it.
The physician who brought in the rifle is not being allowed to return to work or any other activities on Cape Cod Healthcare property.
Police continue to investigate.
