Harwich Residents Will Vote On Hotel Tax Increase

Harwich voters will be asked in a town meeting in October if they support an increase in the hotel-motel lodging tax.

The Cape Cod Chronicle reports the Select Board unanimously supported putting the increase before voters.

The tax, which also covers bed and breakfasts and short-term rentals, would go up from four to six percent.

The board aims to use the additional funding for specific projects, rather than having it go towards the town's general fund.
