Governor Baker Signs New Climate Change Legislation

Governor Charlie Baker signed comprehensive climate change legislation on Friday, which commits the state to achieving net zero carbon emissions in Massachusetts by 2050.

At the signing ceremony, Baker said this latest policy change is a continuation of climate change initiatives that have been ongoing during his administration.

The new law also authorizes the state’s Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs to establish new emissions limits every five years across a wide range of industries.
