State Directs Local Officials To Provide Security At Ballot Drop Boxes

The state is directing local officials to provide security for local ballot drop boxes over the Halloween weekend.

Cities and towns that cannot have security watching the box all night are asked to empty and lock them by 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

The boxes should be clearly marked as temporarily closed until being reopened on Sunday morning.

The order comes after a local man allegedly burned ballots in the drop box at the Boston Public Library over the weekend.
