A high surf advisory remains in effect from the National Weather Service for the Cape and Islands until 8 p.m. tonight.
The weather service says dangerous rip currents and large breaking waves from hurricane Paulette will peak today.
The advisory applies especially to southeast-facing ocean beaches on the Rhode Island and Massachusetts coastlines.
