Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Publishes New Report On Polystyrene

Researchers at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution out with a new report that says polystyrene-- the stuff used for among other things packaging, may degrade in decades, or centuries when exposed to sunlight.

It was always thought that it was thousands of years.

The study was published in the journal Environmental Science and Technology.

Lead researcher Collin Ward says one goal was to find out if it lasted forever, as previously thought. And, now we know it doesn’t.
