A date has been set for a recall election for Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Chairman Cedric Cromwell and treasurer Gordon Harris, according to a Mashpee Enterprise report. The special election is scheduled for September 15th at the Mashpee Wampanoag Community and Government Center. An hour-long hearing will precede the vote. Cromwell detractors are holding him responsible for tribal financial losses and allege he was complicit in allowing a tribal council board member to stay on after a letter of resignation was submitted.
