The long-serving dispatcher for the Yarmouth Police Department has died.
Yarmouth Police report that Stephen Harold Peterson began his YPD career as a Summer Police Officer in 1979 and was appointed a full-time dispatcher in December of that year.
Peterson was a 1974 graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School and upon graduation, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp, serving until 1979 when he was honorably discharged after attaining the rank of Staff Sargeant.
Peterson also held an A.S. Degree in Criminal Justice from Cape Cod Community College.
