Officials with the Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby confirmed Tuesday that longtime derby president, Ed Jerome died unexpectedly.
The Vineyard Gazette reports the Edgartown resident, avid fisherman, and former longtime principal of the Edgartown School led the derby for many years. One Vineyard resident, Mary Boyd, said, “Our community mourns tonight as we have lost a champion for our children, our fishery, and our Island.”
