The victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on our country were remembered on Tuesday, the 17th anniversary of that horrific day.
Nearly two dozen rememberances and services were held on Cape Cod and the Islands, including one in Barnstable at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Yarmouth Deputy Police Chief, Steven Xiarhos, whose son, Nicholas Xiarhos, joined the Marines as a result of those attacks and subsequently lost his life in Afghanistan fighting the enemy of our country, gave an emotional address to those gathered to honor the fallen.
