Gas Prices Drop One Cent This Week

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down one cent this week, according to AAA Northeast.

In its weekly survey of prices in Massachusetts, Triple-A finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.82 per gallon. The Massachusetts price is a penny lower than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.83. A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 58 cents lower at $2.24.

“Compared to July, consumer demand for gasoline is lessening and prices are starting to follow suit,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs. “The national average is expected to keep moving lower, especially with the switchover to lower grade gasoline in September.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 28 cents, from a low of $2.71 to a high of $2.99.
