Mashpee Man Mourned by Friends, Family

A Mashpee man, returning from Cape Cod Hospital where he had just left his wife and newborn daughter, has been identified as one of the two killed in a head-on crash early Saturday morning in Cotuit on Route 28.

32-year old Kevin Quinn, a combat veteran Marine who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan was pinned inside his SUV after the crash; firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove him from the vehicle. He was taken by ambulance to South Shore Hospital where he later died.

The sedan's driver, 22-year-old Mickey Rivera, of Fall River, was pronounced dead at the scene. Rivera’s passenger, 24-year-old Jocelyn Goyette, of New Bedford, remained in a Boston hospital in critical condition as of late Sunday night.

Scanner reports indicate that Rivera was being pursued by two Mashpee Police cruisers for several motor vehicle violations.

Quinn will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Bourne with full military honors one week from today.
