Route 6 Overpass Dedicated to Former U.S. Marine

More than a hundred people turned out Saturday afternoon for a dedication ceremony in West Yarmouth.

Family and friends of William J. Donovan Jr were on hand at the Route 6 overpass on West Yarmouth Road for the dedication of the William Joseph Donovan Jr. Memorial Bridge.

The U.S. Marine Lance Corporal, and D-Y Regional High School graduate, survived two roadside bombings in Afghanistan, earning two Purple Hearts.

He died in September 2015 in a motorcycle accident in Canton.

Saturday’s dedication ceremony came on what would have been Donovan’s 30th birthday.
