Corps Gives More Details on Sagamore Bridge Work

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has provided more detail about the upcoming work to be performed on the Sagamore bridge that will result in a lane closure in each direction for almost two months.

The Corps says the near $1.7 million dollar project is to replace damaged and word roadway joints. The contractor, R. Zoppo Corporation of Stoughton, will work seven days a week with double shifts in order to complete the work prior to the peak summer travel season.

Similar work is scheduled for the Bourne Bridge this fall.

During the scheduled times for work, travel over the Sagamore will be reduced to one, wider 12-foot lane in each direction.

The Corps says the work is critical to maintaining the structural integrity of the bridges.
