Cranberries Bog Down 2nd Night of Falmouth Town Mtg

Falmouth concluded night two of its Fall Town Meeting by getting bogged down in cranberry preserves.

Originally, voters were being asked to preserve the three inactive cranberry bogs along the Coonamessett River. But after heated debate, which included hearing from members of the $3.5 million Coonamessett River Restoration Project that got underway just last week, a motion was made to create a committee to explore how both the restoration of the river and cranberry bogs could co-exist. That idea was defeated by a near 3-to-1 vote meaning the restoration project will continue and the cranberry bogs will give way to it.
