There is a new fire chief in Edgartown.
The Vineyard Gazette reports that Alexander Schaeffer, the deputy chief, has been named the town’s new fire chief, taking over for Peter Shemeth who is retiring January 9th.
Schaeffer’s was the unanimous choice of town Selectmen after the board of fire engineers unanimously recommended that he take over the position.
