Loya Found Guilty of First Degree Murder

Guilty of first degree murder.

That was the finding of a Barnstable Superior Court jury in the trial of Adrian Loya, 33, the former Coast Guardsman from Virginia.

In 2015, Loya forced his way into a Bourne condominium, shot and killed Coast Guard Petty Officer Lisa Trubnikova, injured her wife, and shot responding Bourne Police officer Jared MacDonald in the back.

Loya was also found guilty of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, armed home invasion, and assault and battery on a police officer.

The first degree murder conviction comes with a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
