Bay State First Responders Aid Houston Effort


Cape Cod and Massachusetts are assisting the relief effort in Houston which is suffering through unprecedented flooding in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

27 Coast Guard members from Air Station Cape Cod have been in Texas this weekend, assisting with aerial rescues.

Today, other first responders from the state will travel to Houston to aid the search and rescue teams already in place. A team from Beverly will bring supplies with them and Massachusetts Task Force 1, one of only 28 elite Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, search and rescue teams in the country, arrived in the Houston area on Sunday. Sixteen members of the team arrived with four boats and 72 hours’ worth of supplies.
