The soon-to-come dog park for Barnstable got a major injection of money from a familiar source.

The Stanton Foundation recently donated $225,000 to the project which was accepted by a vote of the Town Council.

That money, when combined with $30,000 from the Town of Barnstable Dog Park Committee, allows construction to begin on the one acre lot off of Phinney’s Lane near Hathaway Pond.

The first ever off-leash dog park in Barnstable has been a topic of discussion for more than a decade. It was a $25,000 grant from the Stanton Foundation in February of 2016 that got the ball rolling on the park’s construction.
