There is another scam making the rounds on Cape Cod and firefighters in Barnstable are none too pleased about it.
Public safety officials say a group calling itself the “Fire Charity Fund” has been making phone calls to town residents soliciting donations for local fire departments.
Barnstable officials say the group has no affiliation or business with any of the fire departments located within the Town of Barnstable.
Public safety officials urge any resident or business owner wishing to make a voluntary donation to their local fire department to do so directly, at the fire station. They add that anyone who is being solicited for a donation who questions the authenticity of that solicitation is urged to contact their local fire department.
