Sandwich Man in Possession of 900 Tabs of Acid

A Sandwich man is facing numerous drug possession and distribution charges after his arrest by Barnstable Detectives.

Matthew Butchard, 22, had been the subject of an investigation by Barnstable officers which revealed his involvement in the distribution of several types of drugs.

Officers moved in on Monday after observing Butchard engaged in suspicious activity for a number of hours in Sagamore Beach. He was eventually picked up by a waiting vehicle which started heading back towards the mid-Cape area when officers stopped the car. A search of Butchard revealed he had 100 packets of LSD in his possession. Officers executed a search warrant on his Sagamore Beach residence where they seized more than 800 tabs of acid, ten ounces of Psilocybin mushrooms, and 60 doses of concentrated cannibas. A search of his residence in Sandwich found more marijuana, a digital scale, cash, and other material related to drug distribution.

Butchard was arrested and charged with Possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute (LSD) and two counts of Possession of a Class C substance with intent to Distribute (marijuana, mushrooms). He was arraigned in Barnstable District Court and released on one hundred dollars bail.
