Milton Penn Dies


The last surviving son of the founder of Puritan of Cape Cod has died.

Milton Penn died Thursday. He was the oldest of Abraham Penn’s three sons.

He was a graduate of Plymouth High School and the Wharton School of Business and served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.

After the war Penn earned a master’s degree in economics from Columbia University and then joined his father at the Puritan Clothing Company.

During his time guiding puritan, the company expanded from its original two stores in Hyannis and Chatham, adding six more locations across Cape Cod.

Milton was active in many charitable and civic organizations on the Cape and served on the board or as trustee to the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, Cape Cod Community College, the Edward Bangs Kelley and Elza Kelley Foundation and was an original incorporator for Independence Park in Hyannis.

His funeral will be held at the Cape Cod Synagogue at 1:30 pm on Sunday.

Milton Penn was 93.
