Two Cape Residents Face Multiple Gun Charges

A crime committed in Quincy in January has led to the arrest of two people on Cape Cod.

The gun used in that crime was registered to Jo Ann Baker of Centerville. When Barnstable Police questioned Baker, she told police she and her husband owned several guns; ten registered to Baker and six to her husband. She also informed police she was unaware of the whereabouts of all of her firearms.

Upon further investigation, Barnstable Detectives determined that Baker had given several of her firearms to Mark Griswold of Hyannis, a convicted felon.

As a result, Baker was arraigned in Barnstable District Court, charged with trafficking three or more, but fewer than ten, firearms, unlawful possession or transfer of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and improper storage of a firearm.

Griswold was also arraigned and charged with unlawful possession of an assault weapon, trafficking three or more, but fewer than ten, firearms, unlawful possession or transfer of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and improper storage of a firearm.

Baker’s bail was set at $500 and she was instructed not to have any contact with Griswold.

Griswold was held on $75-hundred bail and ordered to wear a GPS bracelet should he make bail.
