Provincetown Customers Left in the Dark

Infrastructure of power grid

Almost everyone in Provincetown found they were powerless on Tuesday.

A fire atop a utility pole forced the Provincetown Fire department to contact Eversource to cut power to the pole because of safety concerns. Eversource complied and as a result, 95% of the electric customers in town were left without power.

The outage didn’t last long. Within an hour almost all of the 56-hundred affected had their power back thanks to Eversource’s ability to switch electricity and bypass the damaged. Eversource crews, last night, worked to replace the utility pole and the equipment damaged by the fire.
